5-Minute Makeup Routine! Multitasking Products! Yay!

Ladies, I totally get it! I'm the mom of a (very cute) toddler and rarely have time to put on makeup. Especially since my son is fascinated with my makeup drawer and every time it's open, he will take something out of it and run off with it, using it for artwork on the walls, usually. But I like to look put together before I run out the door. I live in a small town, and you never know who you're going to run into! So I've nailed a sweet little routine that only takes me 5 minutes... if that. In the words of Holly Mordini, "A little lipstick goes a long way".

First, I apply Laura Mercier luminating tinted moisturizer. This product is: a moisturizer, contains SPF 20, has enough coverage to work as foundation, and gives you a beautiful glow. It covers redness and uneven skin tone. I love it and can't say enough good things about it!         (1 minute)

Second, I use Tarte CC Under Eye Corrector under my eyes because, lucky me, I inherited my grandmother's perpetual dark circles. Thanks, Grandma! I also use it on any blemishes or this one annoying sun spot I have on my cheek. It's a bummer, getting old. (30 seconds)

Third, I like to look sun-kissed, so I use a bit of bronzer on my cheeks, forehead, and bridge of my nose. I apply with my wide, fluffy Smashbox brush #2. My all-time favorite bronzer is Tarte "Park Avenue Princess". (30 seconds)

Fourth, I LOVE Glo Minerals cream blush in Guava. It is the perfect coral pink. It can double as a light lip balm as well! I just smear a bit on the apples of my cheeks with my index finger and blend upward. Look ma, no brush! (45 seconds)

Fifth, (if you have 30 seconds more to spare because I skip this step half of the time), I apply eye shadow over my entire lid. My go-to is Benefit longwear powder eye shadow in "It's Complicated". I believe this is a great shade for all eye colors, as its universal light warm pink looks perfect on any eye color. It just gives you that extra bit of "umph". (45 seconds)

Sixth and lastly, mascara. I've said this once and I'll say it again, Maybelline "The Falsies" Volume Express in blackest black is my all-time favorite mascara. Hint - if you get your mascara thick and really close to the lash line, you can skip the eye liner. I learned that trick from the MUA who used to work on Sex and the City! (45 seconds)

In all honesty, I carry my favorite lipsticks in my handbag, and apply in the car when my child is safely in his car seat. My faves lately have been: Lipstick Queen's Pinky Nude Sinner and Kevyn Aucoin's "Marzie" (a highly-pigmented warm berry with a hint of shimmer). I also received a free sample at Ulta (get your own while supplies lasts!) of Tarte LipSurgence (lip gloss) in Flush, which has a great texture and gives your lips just a hint of pigment.

**If you're REALLY in a hurry, lipstick can double as blush!

Clockwise from the top: Kevyn Aucoin in Marzie, Glo Minerals Cream Blush in Guava, Tarte LipSurgence in Flush, Benefit Eyeshadow in It's Complicated, Tarte CC Undereye Corrector, Maybelline the Falsies, Lipstick Queen in Sinner.

There! We did it! Your whole makeup routine in less than 5 minutes! Well, maybe it won't take 5 minutes the first time, but after the 3rd time, I bet you'll have it down to 4 minutes. I hope you enjoyed this blog post, I definitely enjoyed writing it. Talk to you soon!!!

xoxo, Emily
